Mumbai, September 24, 2026: A major employment initiative for Maharashtra’s youth is set to take place on September 29. The Department of Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation will organise the ‘Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Employment Mega Fair – Maharashtra’ across the Nashik and Konkan regions.
Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha said that more than 1 lakh candidates have registered for the initiative, while over 25,000 employment opportunities and vacancies have been registered by participating companies and employers.
Employment fairs and placement drives will be organised at more than 418 locations across all districts of the Nashik and Konkan regions. More than 1,500 companies and employers have registered to participate. The main objective is to provide young candidates with direct employment opportunities according to their qualifications and skills.
Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha said that due to the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, the Employment Mega Fair is being organised in phases. The first phase covers the Nashik and Konkan regions. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will inaugurate a special employment fair for women at SNDT Women’s University in Mumbai at 10:30 AM on September 29, 2026.
The department has also organised a ‘Pre-Placement Training Drive’ to prepare candidates for interviews and employment opportunities. Training is being provided in personality development, soft skills, communication skills, management skills, interview preparation and other employability skills. The second phase of the training was conducted from September 21 to 24.
A special employment fair and recruitment drive exclusively for women will also be organised at SNDT Women’s University in Mumbai. Industries, companies, service-sector establishments and recruitment agencies offering employment opportunities to women will participate in the event. A joint inauguration ceremony of the Employment Mega Fair for the Nashik and Konkan regions is also planned at the same venue.
The ‘Employment Mega Fair – Maharashtra’ is a major initiative aimed at connecting young people across 12 districts of the Nashik and Konkan regions with industries and actual employment opportunities. The initiative includes more than 300 employment fairs, over 1,500 employers, more than 1 lakh registered candidates and over 25,000 employment opportunities.
The key objective of the ‘Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Employment Mega Fair – Maharashtra’ is to ensure that young people across Maharashtra get employment opportunities suited to their qualifications and skills. Along with providing job opportunities, the initiative focuses on pre-placement training and guidance to help candidates prepare effectively for interviews.
The Department of Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation is working to bridge the gap between industry requirements and the skills of young people, with the aim of bringing more and more youth into the employment sector.
