President Droupadi Murmu Extends Raksha Bandhan Greetings to Citizens
New Delhi, August 28, 2026: President Droupadi Murmu has extended her warm greetings to all Indians living in the country and abroad on the eve of Raksha Bandhan.
In her message, the President said that the sacred tradition of Raksha Bandhan has been an integral part of India’s worship and cultural heritage since ancient times. Over time, the festival has become widely celebrated as a meaningful social occasion symbolising the bond of love and the brother’s commitment to protect his sister.
President Murmu said that Raksha Bandhan strengthens feelings of affection, respect and mutual responsibility among siblings, friends, families and different sections of society. The festival reminds us that the foundation of every relationship is built on trust, sensitivity and mutual cooperation.
She called upon citizens to take a pledge on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan to further strengthen bonds within families and communities and to move forward with the same spirit towards building a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
