Two Smugglers Arrested with Brown Sugar in Tandwa, Chatra; Narcotics Worth ₹4 Lakh Seized

Tandwa (Chatra): In a major crackdown on illegal narcotics, Chatra Police arrested two alleged smugglers within the Tandwa police station area. Police recovered 19.72 grams of brown sugar (including packaging) from their possession; the estimated value of the contraband in the international market is around ₹4 lakh.

During the raid, police also seized four mobile phones and an electronic digital weighing scale from the accused, items suspected to be used in the narcotics trade.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Rajesh Kumar (25), a resident of Pachra, Keredari (Hazaribagh), and Vikash Kumar Mahto (24), a resident of Naiparam, Tandwa (Chatra).

According to the police, acting on a tip-off received by the Chatra Superintendent of Police, a special raid team—led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Prabhat Ranjan Barwar and constituted by Tandwa Station In-charge (Inspector) Pappu Kumar Sharma—took swift action and apprehended both accused near NTPC Tandwa Gate No. 02.

The police have seized the brown sugar, mobile phones, and weighing scale, and have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the law. Investigations are also underway to identify other individuals linked to this illegal network.
