Digital Census Launched in Ranchi: Citizens to Now Conduct Their Own Enumeration
Ranchi, April 29, 2026: Taking a significant initiative regarding Census-2027, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation organized a detailed press briefing on the 'Self-Enumeration' process. The event was presided over by Mayor Roshni Khalkho, while Deputy Mayor Neeraj Kumar, Municipal Commissioner Sushant Gaurav, and several other senior officials were in attendance.
The Municipal Corporation announced that, this time, the census has been made entirely digital and streamlined. Citizens will now be able to enter their personal details online themselves, from the comfort of their homes, using their mobile phones or other digital devices. This will not only save time but also render the entire process more transparent and accurate.
Self-enumeration is a modern system wherein citizens themselves fill out information regarding their families and households on an official portal. This reduces dependency on government personnel and ensures the direct participation of the public.
Under this process, citizens will be able to conduct their self-enumeration online from May 1 to May 15, 2026. Subsequently, the house-listing exercise will be carried out from May 16 to June 14, 2026. The Municipal Corporation informed that the census form will be available in 16 languages this time and will comprise a total of 34 questions, thereby enabling people from all sections of society to participate with ease.
The administration also clarified that citizens will not be asked for any OTPs or sensitive personal information, and all data will remain completely secure and confidential. Furthermore, an appeal has been issued to the public to disregard any rumors and to submit their information exclusively through the official portal.
The Municipal Corporation has urged all citizens to complete their self-enumeration process within the stipulated timeframe and to play an active role in this national campaign, so that future developmental plans may be formulated based on accurate statistical data.
