Crackdown on tobacco in Ranchi: 12,000 rupees fined in raid
Ranchi: On the instructions of Sub-Divisional Officer, Sadar, Ranchi, Kumar Rajat, a raid was conducted in the Lalpur and Sadar police station areas to enforce a ban on the sale and consumption of tobacco and tobacco-derived products. Intensive checks were conducted in public places, educational institutions, bars, and lounges. The operation was led by Sushant Kumar, District Consultant of the Tobacco Control Cell, and the relevant police station provided assistance. During the inspection, violations of rules governing the sale, promotion, and consumption of tobacco products were found. Those found guilty were fined 12,000 rupees. The administration warned of strict enforcement of restrictions under the COTPA Amendment Act 2025.
