Uproar at Degree College Foundation Ceremony in Potka, Clash Among Public Representatives
East Singhbhum, November:
Tension escalated on Sunday during the foundation stone laying ceremony of a degree college at Khaparsai under Potka block in East Singhbhum district. District Council Member San Muni Sardar registered a strong protest on the stage itself, objecting to the arrangements and the invitation process for the event.
What Happened at the Event?
- San Muni Sardar questioned the preparations and the selective invitation process.
- She alleged that despite the college being constructed in her own panchayat at a cost of ₹35 crore, only chosen individuals were invited.
- Local public representatives and stakeholders were ignored, which she termed undemocratic.
- She stated that prioritizing only the MLA or his close associates in a government event is unacceptable.
Heated Atmosphere for Nearly Half an Hour
The situation grew tense for about 30 minutes, forcing Potka police and administrative officials to intervene and restore order.
San Muni Sardar warned that any form of favoritism in the region would not be tolerated.
MLA Sanjeev Sardar Responds
Reacting to the incident, Potka MLA Sanjeev Sardar dismissed the allegations as baseless.
He asserted that the foundation ceremony was conducted strictly as per rules and procedures, and there was no question of bias.
