The ATS received intelligence inputs about the movement of certain suspicious individuals involved in terrorist activities. Acting on this information, the team kept them under close surveillance and arrested the trio late on Friday night. Preliminary investigations have revealed their connection with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
An ATS official said that interrogation of the suspects is underway to uncover details of their plans, potential targets, and network within India. The agency is also investigating their funding sources and communication channels.
The Gujarat ATS will hold a press conference at 1 PM today to share detailed information about the arrests and the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, the suspects’ digital devices, mobile data, and contact history are being thoroughly examined.
Sources have indicated that during initial questioning, the accused admitted to planning large-scale terror attacks in the country.
Security agencies across Gujarat have been put on high alert, and surveillance has been intensified in sensitive areas.
