Frontline platforms to showcase coordinated combat maneuvers during the operational display
New Delhi (M Bharat 24 News Live): This year, Indian Navy Day — celebrated in remembrance of the Navy’s pivotal role in the 1971 Indo-Pak war — will be observed on December 4 at Shankumugham Beach in Thiruvananthapuram. During the 1971 war, the Indian Navy dealt a significant blow to Pakistan’s naval and coastal defenses. This year’s celebration will highlight India’s maritime excellence and showcase the Navy as a combat-ready, united, reliable, and self-reliant force dedicated to securing the nation’s seas for a developed and prosperous India.
Navy Day commemorates the success of Operation Trident, when Indian missile boats launched a daring attack on the Karachi Harbor, displaying India’s maritime strength, precision, courage, and strategic brilliance. Like previous years, the Navy has chosen to host the event at a location other than its primary naval bases — with past celebrations held in Puri (Odisha) and Sindhudurg (Maharashtra).
According to Captain Vivek Madhwal, the event will give citizens a unique opportunity to witness various facets of the Navy’s multi-domain operations. The operational display at Shankumugham Beach will demonstrate the Navy’s commitment as the “Preferred Security Partner” in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). It will bring to life the Navy’s formidable combat capability, technological excellence, and operational readiness — symbolizing India’s growing maritime strength and self-reliance.
The event will feature coordinated combat exercises by frontline platforms, representing the Navy’s precision, power, and ability to secure India’s maritime domain.
Highlighting the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India), several indigenously built assets showcasing India’s defense manufacturing capabilities will be part of the display. The celebration will also emphasize the Navy’s preparedness and deterrence strength, as demonstrated during Operation Sindoor, reaffirming its ability to strike with precision, speed, and dominance.
This year’s Navy Day celebrations will serve as a tribute to the professionalism, discipline, and courage of the men and women of the Indian Navy, who steadfastly safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and maritime interests.
