Jharkhand/West Singhbhum: A shocking incident has occurred in the Tonto police station area of West Singhbhum district. The body of a woman missing for two days was recovered from a forest near the village on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Sukhmati Lohar, a resident of Kitahatu Tola Latar village. Preliminary investigations have revealed that criminals slit her throat with a sharp weapon.
According to information, Sukhmati Lohar left home on Tuesday for some work but did not return until late evening. When her family members began searching for her, her body was found in a pool of blood in a forest near the village on Friday morning. Upon seeing the body, villagers immediately informed the police.
Upon receiving the information, the Tonto police station in-charge arrived at the scene with his team, took possession of the body, and sent it to Chaibasa Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman had been murdered with a sharp weapon.
DSP B. Tuti said the motive behind the murder is not yet fully clear, but it is suspected that it may be related to a land dispute or witchcraft. Given the seriousness of the case, police have launched an investigation and are conducting raids to find suspects.
