On Wednesday, on the occasion of Mahanavami, Gorkha soldiers performed a special puja to the Goddess. During this, the soldiers of JAP-1 also worshipped their weapons. Priest Shahdev performed the weapon worship. It is believed that worshipping weapons ensures that they never betray their enemies. On Mahanavami, the Gorkha soldiers offered their weapons at the feet of the Goddess and saluted her with gunfire.
On the auspicious occasion of Mahanavami, nine female goddesses were first worshipped. After that, the JAP soldiers offered 101 sacrifices at the feet of the Goddess. After each sacrifice, the Goddess was saluted by firing a gun. In this battalion, sacrifice and the worship of weapons have a special significance.
Ranchi's Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Rakesh Ranjan, stated that on Mahanavami, at the JAP-1 camp, we first worshipped Bhairav with nine girls. After this, the weapons were worshipped. We also prayed to Goddess Durga for the safety of all the soldiers. We also prayed to Goddess Siddhidatri for happiness, peace, and prosperity for all the people of Jharkhand.
It is noteworthy that Gorkha soldiers in Jharkhand have been worshipping the Shakti form of Goddess Durga since 1880. Before the battalion's formation, similar worship was performed in Nepal. However, today these soldiers perform this worship in Ranchi as well.
