Babulal Marandi questions CID activities, also targets Chief Minister Hemant

Jharkhand/Ranchi: Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) state president and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Babulal Marandi, has once again questioned the activities of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). He urged Chief Minister Hemant Soren to stop making empty promises and take concrete action against the investigating agency.

Babulal wrote on social media on Saturday that a public investigation should be conducted into all extortion and corruption activities carried out by the CID over the past year, so that the truth can be revealed. He said, "We have repeatedly told you, even warned you, how deeply rooted corruption is in your administration. What mischief is your CID department up to? We have informed you about this matter several times."

Babulal said that last year, following information from the Gujarat Police, the police seized a cache of banned cough syrup in Barwada, Dhanbad. Despite knowing that it was being used for intoxication, it was being sold openly. The CID took over the case, but even after 14 months, no suspects have been arrested. Have we become so greedy that we won't even spare our children?

The Leader of the Opposition wrote in his post, "How dare you sell this deadly drug to our youth and children? The blind hunger for money has locked your tongue. Open your mouth, because our children's future is at stake. You hold the responsibility of the Chief Minister of the state as well as the Home Ministry, yet the ACB is not filing a charge sheet within the stipulated time." Similarly, the CID's handling of corruption and criminal investigations has been questionable.

Marandi further wrote that whether it's shielding those accused in the paper leak case, protecting drug dealers, or perpetrating land scams, the CID has consistently been found complicit in these illegal activities. This is why, not only the public but now even the courts doubt the credibility of the CID's actions.
