Jharkhand/Ranchi: Police of Jharkhand's capital Ranchi busted prostitution racket on Sunday. Police have detained a total of 13 people including 11 girls in this case. Police have also recovered several mobile phones and other items from the spot. Police is taking further action.
According to Ranchi Police, on the basis of secret information, a raid was conducted at Om Girls Hostel located in Lalpur police station area. In the raid, 11 girls and two men have been detained for questioning. The girls are originally from Bengal. All are being verified.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) cum Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chandan Kumar Sinha said that Ranchi Police has exposed a large organized prostitution racket. The racket was being operated from Om Girls Hostel located in Lalpur police station area. There was information about running a racket, some people are running the business of prostitution in Ranchi under the guise of a girls hostel.
He told that after investigating the matter, it was found to be true, after which a team was formed under the leadership of City Deputy Superintendent of Police (City DSP) KV Raman and a large number of women police personnel were also included in it. The team has raided the Om Girls Hostel located in Lalpur police station area and has detained 11 girls so far. All are being questioned.
The SSP said that the preliminary investigation of the police has revealed that these girls were kept in the hostel. From there they were sent to customers at various places. The police is interrogating everyone thoroughly, so that other people associated with the racket and its network can be revealed.
The SSP also told that in recent times, Ranchi Police had taken major action against the prostitution gang running in the hotel. Since then, the people running the racket were changing their location. In this sequence, it was learned that now the racket is being run through the girls hostel. At present, the role of the operator of the girls hostel in this entire racket is also being investigated. If the role of the operator comes to light, action will be taken against him as well. Investigation is going on in the matter.
The police officers conducting the raid say that after interrogation, more important revelations are likely to be made in this case, along with this, the kingpin of the racket will also be arrested soon. According to the information received so far, this racket was being operated through a woman.
