Jharkhand/Dhanbad : Jharkhand's IG, Prisons, Sudarshan Mandal, conducted a surprise inspection of the Dhanbad Divisional Jail. He was accompanied by Dhanbad Police Station in-charge RN Thakur and DSP, Law and Order, Naushad Alam. During the inspection, he reviewed the prison's arrangements and the conditions of the prisoners.
IG Sudarshan Mandal stated that the inspection was a routine process. He added that several changes have been made for prisoners under the new prison manual, which came into effect in May 2025, and the new Act, which was implemented after nearly 131 years.
He informed that prisoners will now be provided non-vegetarian food three days a week. They will also undergo regular medical checkups and screenings to ensure timely attention to health issues.
The IG also stated that new prisoners entering the jail will be required to meet a 10-point set of criteria. The health and safety of prisoners will be assessed based on these criteria.
During the inspection, the jail administration was ordered to ensure compliance with all instructions.
