Essential instructions issued to the District Transport Officer and Superintendent of Police (Traffic) for smooth traffic arrangements during Durga Puja

Jharkhand/Ranchi : An important online meeting was held today, September 17, 2025, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, Ranchi, Mr. Manjunath Bhajantri, regarding law and order, road safety, and illegal mining. Present at the meeting were DIG and Senior Superintendent of Police, Ranchi, Chandan Sinha, Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order), Rajeshwarnath Alok, Sub-Divisional Officer (Sadar), Utkarsh Kumar, Superintendent of Police (City), Ajit Kumar, Superintendent of Police (Rural), Praveen Pushkar, Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Kailash Karmali, District Transport Officer, District Mining Officer, all Deputy Superintendents of Police/Sub-Divisional Police Officers, Block Development Officers, Circle Officers, and all police station in-charges.

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri stated that the district administration's priority is to ensure that Durga Puja is celebrated in a peaceful and harmonious environment, road accidents are effectively prevented, and activities like illegal mining are eliminated at all costs. He directed all officials to work in coordination.

At the meeting, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, Ranchi, Manjunath Bhajantri, provided necessary guidelines to officials regarding law and order, traffic management, and security arrangements during Durga Puja. He directed that all COs, magistrates, and police station in-charges meet with puja committees to ensure all necessary arrangements, especially for the safety of women. DIG and Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandan Sinha, directed that bike patrols be conducted during the puja to maintain law and order.

Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri directed that potholes on roads be filled before the puja. He also directed that the electrical wires passing near the pandals be covered with pipes in collaboration with the Electricity Department.

To streamline traffic management, Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri directed the Superintendent of Police, Traffic, to prevent haphazard parking and provide convenience to devotees. He also directed that all necessary security and traffic arrangements be ensured by inspecting the site with the concerned puja committees before the idol immersion.

Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri also directed strict action against those disturbing communal harmony and to monitor social media.

Reviewing road safety, Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri directed the District Transport Officer to intensify the "Anti-Drunk and Drive" campaign. He directed repairs to damaged roads at sharp turns, marking speed breakers, and prohibiting the entry of heavy vehicles during school hours. The Deputy Commissioner also directed ensuring safe traffic at Durga Soren Chowk.

Illegal mining was also discussed in detail at the meeting. Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri said that action should be taken under zero tolerance by October 15th. Strict action should be taken against those involved in illegal mining despite the NGT ban. He also directed the police station in-charge and CO to remain vigilant and take action against those illegally storing sand.
