Sonipat: 21-year-old worker Mausam, who went to repair the roof during rain on Wednesday at Chaudhary Devi Lal Sugar Mill, Ahulana, located in Gohana, Sonipat, Haryana, died of electric shock. Mausam, a resident of Nagina village in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh, worked under a contract company. Police have taken the body into custody and started investigation.
Eyewitness workers told that the three-phase wire on the roof was cut and the water tank pipe was connected to the electric wire. When Mausam tried to remove the iron pipe, he got caught in the current and got stuck on the roof.
Later, after switching off the power supply, he was brought down, but by then he had died.
It was told that about 40 workers from Uttar Pradesh are working in the sugar mill under contractor Ramniwas. As soon as the news of the accident was received, the police reached the spot and took the body in their custody and sent it to Civil Hospital, Gohana on Wednesday. The police is investigating the matter and further action will be taken on the basis of the statement of the family members.
