Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has taken a historic and humane decision. Now no hospital in the state will be allowed to hold back the body of a patient in case the bill is not paid. This decision has brought great relief to the poor and needy people of Jharkhand. The order issued by the state government clearly states that in case of death after treatment, the hospital administration cannot hold the dead body just because the bill has not been paid. This is inhuman and illegal. If this is done by any hospital, then strict action will be taken against the concerned hospital administration.
Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari himself confirmed this decision and said that "The poor do not have money, but they have respect. Now they will not have to bear the humiliation of paying the bill for someone's dead body." He has appealed to the public that if any hospital violates this order, then its complaint can be made directly to the Health Department or the Minister himself. He also said that injustice with the poor will not be tolerated. This decision is being welcomed across the state and people on social media are calling it a "victory for humanity".
