Renovation completed at a cost of Rs 38 lakh; post office equipped with modern facilities and digital services

Guna, September 17, 2026: Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya M. Scindia inaugurated the renovated Guna Head Post Office on Thursday. The post office has been renovated at a cost of approximately Rs 38 lakh and equipped with modern facilities.

The renovation of the Guna Head Post Office has been carried out as part of the Department of Posts' nationwide initiative to modernize post offices. The design and redevelopment have been undertaken in accordance with the guidelines of the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi.

Speaking at the inauguration, Scindia appreciated the services being provided by the Department of Posts in the region and the efforts being made to modernize the postal network. He said that post offices equipped with modern facilities would help provide citizens with better and quality postal and financial services.

The renovated post office has introduced a systematic token system for the convenience of customers. This will enable citizens to access services in an organized manner without having to wait for long in crowded queues.

A digital display screen has also been installed to provide information about the timelines for various postal services. For instance, duplicate passbooks can now be issued within one day.

Scindia also highlighted the increasing use of digital technology in postal services. He said that the expansion of digital services has reduced the need for citizens to visit post offices repeatedly for several tasks.

Through the Dak Seva and Dak Mitra apps, citizens can access several postal services from the comfort of their homes, making services more accessible and convenient.

The Guna Head Post Office serves a large population of the district by providing postal and financial services. With its modern infrastructure, the renovated post office is expected to provide an improved service experience to citizens in Guna and surrounding areas.

According to the Department of Posts, the renovation is part of its broader efforts towards modernizing postal infrastructure, expanding services, strengthening digital delivery and enhancing the capabilities of employees.
