Semicon India 2026 to Showcase India’s Semiconductor Strength; PM Modi to Inaugurate Event on September 17

New Delhi, August 18, 2026: India is set to host a major event for its growing semiconductor industry as the fifth edition of Semicon India 2026 will be held from September 17 to 19 at Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the three-day event on September 17.

With the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem”, the conference will showcase India’s progress in the semiconductor sector and its expanding role in the global electronics supply chain. Leading semiconductor companies, industry experts, policymakers, investors, academics, startups and students from across the world are expected to participate.

12 Semiconductor Projects Approved

Under the India Semiconductor Mission, the government has taken several steps to promote semiconductor manufacturing and design in the country. Twelve semiconductor projects have been approved under Semicon 1.0, of which three have already commenced commercial production.

The government has also approved Semicon 2.0 to further strengthen India’s semiconductor ecosystem. The initiative will focus on expanding capabilities, infrastructure and innovation across the semiconductor sector.

Support for Startups and Academic Institutions

The government is promoting semiconductor research and design by providing advanced design tools to more than 332 academic institutions and 105 startups. In addition, 24 startups have been approved under the Design Linked Incentive scheme.

These initiatives aim to develop a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem in India, covering everything from chip design and research to manufacturing and supply chains.

Participation from More Than 40 Countries

Semicon India 2026 is expected to attract delegations from more than 40 countries. More than 500 exhibitors will participate in the exhibition, including over 240 international companies. More than 150 internationally recognised speakers are also expected to share their views during the event.

The exhibition will cover more than 15,000 square metres and feature six country pavilions and 10 state government pavilions. A startup pavilion, innovation showcase, startup pitch competition, student hackathon and workforce development pavilion will also be part of the event.

Discussions to Cover AI, Technology and Supply Chains

The conference will address several key areas of the semiconductor and electronics industry, including manufacturing and technology, artificial intelligence and digital transformation, supply chains, chemicals and materials, government policies, sustainability and ESG, product manufacturing and design, startups and innovation, and talent and skills.

Special sessions will focus on women’s empowerment and leadership as well as workforce development. Six international country roundtables will also be organised.

India’s Growing Semiconductor Market

According to Amitesh Kumar Sinha, CEO of the India Semiconductor Mission, global semiconductor demand is expected to rise from around $1 trillion to $2 trillion in the coming years. India’s semiconductor demand is also projected to increase from approximately $100 billion to $200 billion.

Amid this growing global demand, India aims not only to become part of the global semiconductor supply chain but also to establish itself as an important and reliable player within it.

‘Sand to Silicon to Systems’ Experience

Semicon India 2026 will feature a special “Sand to Silicon to Systems” value-chain experience. It will showcase the complete semiconductor journey and highlight India’s growing capabilities across different stages of the industry.

Representatives from leading global and Indian companies, including ASML, Applied Materials, Teradyne, Infineon, Jabil, IBM Research, NXP, Tata Electronics, Micron, Rapidus, Lam Research, CG Power, Advantest and Tokyo Electron, are expected to participate.

Semicon India 2026 is set to become a major platform for investment, innovation, technological cooperation and global partnerships in the semiconductor sector. The event will provide India with an opportunity to showcase its growing capabilities and strengthen its position in the global electronics and semiconductor supply chain.
