Bamboo-based industries to strengthen Jharkhand's villages: Deepika Pandey Singh
Ranchi: Deepika Pandey Singh, Jharkhand's Minister for Rural Development, Rural Works, and Panchayati Raj, stated that bamboo-based industries could generate new employment and livelihood opportunities in the state's villages.
Speaking at the 'Bamboo Ecosystem Conclave 2026' held at XISS, Ranchi, she noted that the government is working to provide the necessary policies, technology, investment, and market access to promote bamboo-based industries.
The Minister highlighted that the success of the 'Birsa Harit Gram Yojana' has boosted farmers' incomes, with mangoes from Jharkhand reaching destinations like Dubai, Italy, and London; similarly, bamboo-based industries have the potential to strengthen the rural economy.
She expressed confidence that, with government support, Jharkhand would emerge as a major hub for bamboo production and bamboo-based industries in the near future, creating new employment opportunities for rural youth, women, and self-help groups.
