Applications filed to register FIRs against dozens of Congress leaders over BJP office violence
Varun Kumar and Sanjay Chaudhary submitted separate applications at Argora Police Station, alleging assault, stone-pelting, vandalism, snatching, and attempted murder.
Ranchi: The BJP has submitted applications at the Argora Police Station seeking the registration of an FIR against several Congress leaders and hundreds of party workers in connection with the violence that erupted during the siege of the BJP state office. Ranchi Metropolitan BJP President Varun Kumar and BJP worker Sanjay Chaudhary submitted separate applications, leveling serious allegations against Congress leaders, including assault, rioting, stone-pelting, vandalism, snatching, and attempted murder.
In his application, Varun Kumar stated that on July 23, during a Congress protest, a large number of Congress workers—acting under the instructions of State President Keshav Mahto Kamlesh and former minister Bandhu Tirkey—attacked the BJP state office using sticks, iron rods, and stones. The application alleges that several BJP workers were injured in the attack. It also alleges that a gold chain and a Titan watch belonging to BJP worker Sushil Dubey were snatched. He has demanded legal action and the registration of an FIR against several named Congress leaders.
Meanwhile, BJP worker Sanjay Chaudhary alleged in his application that he was struck on the head with a stick and an iron rod during the attack, resulting in a severe head injury that required two stitches at the hospital. He, too, has demanded the registration of an FIR against several Congress leaders and hundreds of workers under various sections of the law, including attempted murder.
According to the BJP, several workers were injured in the incident, including Sanjit Singh, Saurabh Kashyap, Alok Pitambar, Sunny Toppo, Sunil Sahu, Aman Jaiswal, Sushil Dubey, Amitabh Dheeraj, Nitin Rana, Romit Narayan Singh, Piyush Vijayvargiya, Rahul Chaubey, Pawan Singh, Om Prakash Singh, Rafia Naz, Johnny Walker Khan, and Mahavir Singh; many of them are currently undergoing treatment. Several senior party leaders and workers—including BJP State President Aditya Sahu, Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi, former State President Deepak Prakash, State Media In-charge Yogendra Pratap Singh, Saroj Singh, Hemant Das, Aarti Kujur, Ashok Baraik, and Roshni Khalkho—were present when the formal application was submitted at the Argora police station.
In the application submitted to the police, the BJP has demanded an impartial investigation into the incident, the registration of an FIR against all named and other accused individuals, and strict legal action.
