Kolhan Mukhiya Conference 2026: Honoring Outstanding Panchayats
At the Kolhan Division Mukhiya Conference 2026, held in Chaibasa, Mukhiyas (village heads) who have performed outstanding work were felicitated. Speaking at the event, Minister Deepika Pandey Singh stated that this honor serves as a recognition of the grassroots efforts aimed at making villages self-reliant and empowered. She highlighted that, by implementing the PESA Rules—which had been pending for 25 years—the state government has granted statutory powers to Gram Sabhas (village assemblies), thereby ensuring the protection of water, forests, and land resources. This regulatory framework has fostered increased participation among local communities and strengthened the democratic process. Furthermore, the provision for appointing women as Gram Sabha Secretaries is set to promote gender equality. The Minister reiterated the commitment to establishing Panchayats as the focal points for development and social transformation.
