Extortion and Security: Police-Chamber Meeting Discusses Plans to Crack Down on Criminals
Ranchi: A high-level meeting was held on Saturday at the Chamber of Commerce building between City SP Paras Rana and the Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce regarding the increasing incidents of extortion and threatening calls in the city. During the meeting, traders expressed their concerns about security and demanded increased patrolling and improved policing at the police station level.
The City SP assured the traders that the police are taking strict action against threats made through WhatsApp calls. He appealed to the traders not to be intimidated under any circumstances and to immediately inform the police by dialing 112. The SP advised high-risk business owners to install motion sensor alarms and CCTV cameras in their shops. Agreement was also reached on increasing the activity of PCR (Police Control Room) units and holding meetings of the 'Police-Trader Coordination Committee' every three months. General Secretary Rohit Agarwal also submitted a detailed memorandum to the police administration in this regard.
