Ranchi Municipal Corporation Elections: Observers Instruct Candidates on Election Rules After Symbol Allocation
Ranchi: Amidst the hustle and bustle of the Municipal (General) Elections-2026, General Observer Sandeep Kumar Doraiburu and Expenditure Observer Dhruv Kumar held a special meeting with the candidates for the Mayor and Councillor posts at the Collectorate premises on Saturday. The main objective of this meeting, held immediately after the allocation of election symbols, was to familiarize the candidates with the intricacies of the Model Code of Conduct and election expenditure.
New Bank Account Mandatory for Election Expenses
The Expenditure Observer strictly instructed that candidates must open a new bank account for every election-related transaction. Details of election expenses must be filled out in three different colored forms and submitted to Room No. G-10 at the Collectorate. Strict action may be taken by the Election Commission for non-compliance with the rules.
No Election Campaign Without Permission
The meeting clarified that written permission from the concerned Returning Officer (RO) is mandatory for campaign vehicles, meetings, or processions. The local police station must also be informed about the event.
