Ranchi: In order to ensure free, fair and peaceful conduct of the Municipal (General) Elections 2026, the Superintendent of Police (City), Ranchi, today held a review meeting through video conferencing with all Deputy Superintendents of Police and Station House Officers of the urban area. The meeting focused on strengthening law and order arrangements during the election period.
The Superintendent of Police directed officials to expedite the execution of pending warrants and to take strict action under Sections 126/135 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 against elements likely to adversely affect the election process. Instructions were also issued to update records of history-sheeters, absconders and proclaimed offenders and initiate necessary legal action.
Further directions included verification and deposit of licensed firearms, close monitoring of individuals previously involved in riots or disturbances, and surveillance of persons released on bail. The police were also instructed to take stringent action against criminal and anti-social elements, and to intensify search and seizure operations against illegal arms, ammunition and illicit liquor to maintain a conducive atmosphere for polling.
