Be Sensitive in Investigation of Crimes Against Children: Neerja Asari


Lohardaga: Emphasizing the need for sensitivity and accuracy in investigating crimes against children, District Judge–II and Special Judge for Women’s Crimes Neerja Asari said that even minor lapses in investigation of POCSO cases can lead to the acquittal of offenders. She was addressing a one-day Multi-Stakeholders Consultation Workshop held on 31 January 2026 at the Civil Court auditorium, organized under the directions of JHALSA Ranchi and the guidance of the Principal District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Lohardaga, Rajkamal Mishra.


The workshop focused on the POCSO Act, Juvenile Justice Act, roles of the Child Welfare Committee, and related procedures. Judge Asari stressed proper seizure lists, secure handling of evidence, and complete testimony before the court. SDPO Kisko Vedant Shankar highlighted immediate action, correct FIR registration, medical examination, and application of appropriate legal sections in POCSO cases.


DLSA Secretary Rajesh Kumar explained provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act, duties of the Child Welfare Committee, and mandatory registration of child care institutions. Police officers, doctors, advocates, PLVs, and other stakeholders participated in the workshop.
