Jharkhand High Court Big Order: Direction to Appoint and Ensure Joining of 8 Candidates Excluded from 11–13th JPSC

Ranchi News: The Jharkhand High Court has delivered a significant judgment in the case of candidates who were excluded from the appointment process of the 11th to 13th Combined JPSC Civil Services Examination. Justice Ananda Sen’s bench has directed the state government to immediately appoint the eight petitioners, ensure their joining, and send them for training.

The petition was filed by Jitendra Rajak, Suraj Kumar Yadav, Neeraj Kumar, Ashutosh Kumar, Suditi Suman, Rupali Roshan, Suraj Kumar, and Rupendra Prasad, challenging the commission’s decision. Advocate Amritansh Vats, appearing for the petitioners, stated that the JPSC had excluded ten candidates on the grounds that nine seats were kept reserved due to a pending High Court case.

The petitioners argued that if seats had to be held back, candidates with lower marks should have been stopped, not those who ranked higher in the merit list. For example, petitioner Jitendra Rajak, who topped the SC category, had secured enough marks to be selected in the general category.

The court observed that the petitioners were higher in merit and withholding their appointments despite high scores was unjustified. Therefore, the state government has been instructed to complete the appointment process of all eight candidates and ensure their joining and training without delay.
