Delhi High Court reserves verdict on not using Abhishek Bachchan's photo without permission

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has reserved its verdict on a petition seeking not to use film actor Abhishek Bachchan's photo, voice and other personal symbols without his permission. Justice Tejas Karia's bench said that it will pass a detailed order on the matter. The next hearing of the case will be on June 15.

The High Court said that it will order the removal of those URLs (weblinks) which violate Abhishek Bachchan's personality rights. Earlier, on September 9, the High Court had reserved its verdict on a similar petition filed by Abhishek Bachchan's wife and actress Aishwarya Rai.

During the hearing, Abhishek Bachchan's lawyers Praveen Anand and Dhruv Anand said that people are using the petitioner's photo and his likes and dislikes. People are also using Abhishek Bachchan commercially. Even using technology like AI and deepfake, indecent content is being uploaded on YouTube channels, Instagram accounts and Facebook profiles with photos, videos and other celebrities. During the hearing, lawyer Mamta Rani, appearing on behalf of Google, said that their platform will remove such URLs after the court order.
