Khunti: A small tractor was made available on subsidy to Gulab Mahila Mandal, Torpa under the Agricultural Mechanization Promotion Scheme on Monday, courtesy of the Land Conservation Office, Khunti. A big tractor was given on subsidy to Shanti Mahila Mandal, Karra and Doengar Nala Jal Chhajan Samiti, Rania under the Chief Minister Tractor Distribution Scheme.
After being benefited, the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the state government and the district administration and said that now they will be able to do agricultural work easily.
On this occasion, District Council President Masih Gudiya, District Council Vice President Manju Devi, DDC Alok Kumar handed over the keys of the tractor to the beneficiaries. In the same sequence, a district level Kharif workshop was also organized in the auditorium of the District Agriculture Office, in which farmers and officials of the concerned departments participated.
The main objective of the workshop was to provide necessary guidelines related to proper care of Kharif crops, sowing of alternative crops in the fields lying vacant due to excessive rain and agriculture. Scientists of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra gave many important suggestions to save the paddy crop. At the same time, the District Horticulture Officer gave information about various schemes of the Horticulture Department and presented a detailed description of the schemes being run by the Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Department.
