Jammu and Kashmir: Security forces have launched a search operation after about half a dozen drones from Pakistan were seen hovering over several forward areas near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Officials gave this information on Monday.
Officials said that drone activity was seen from across the border over Balakot, Langote and Gursai Nala in Mendhar sector on Sunday night. These drones, released for spying (surveillance), were seen flying at a very high altitude and returned to Pakistan within five minutes.
Officials said that the area was cordoned off and searches were started in several areas in the morning where drone activity was seen to ensure that no weapons or narcotics were being dropped by air.
It is noteworthy that in the last few years, the use of drones by Pakistan to drop arms and narcotics has emerged as a big challenge for the security agencies and under this, the police had announced a reward of Rs 3 lakh to the person giving information about sighting of a drone in February last year.
