The State-Level Shravani Mela 2026 was formally inaugurated on Wednesday at the Dumma border, located on the Jharkhand-Bihar boundary in Deoghar. Deepika Pandey Singh, Minister for Rural Development, Rural Works, and Panchayati Raj, inaugurated the fair amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras and special prayers. Also present on the occasion were Sudivya Kumar Sonu (Minister for Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports, and Youth Affairs), Suresh Paswan (MLA, Deoghar), public representatives, and administrative officials.
Praying for the happiness, prosperity, peace, and continuous progress of the state and the nation at the feet of Baba Baidyanath, Minister Deepika Pandey Singh stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the state government is working with full commitment to make this year's Shravani Mela safer, more organized, and grander than ever before. Comprehensive arrangements have been ensured regarding security, health, sanitation, drinking water, food, and other essential amenities for the devotees.
She remarked that the Shravani Mela is not merely a religious event but a grand festival of faith for millions of Shiva devotees. The government's goal is to ensure that every *Kanwariya* (pilgrim) arriving from within the country and abroad can seek the blessings of Baba Baidyanath in a safe, convenient, and reverent atmosphere.
Appeal for a Plastic-Free and Clean Fair
Delivering a special message on environmental conservation, the Minister urged devotees, local citizens, and the administration to completely minimize the use of plastic. She suggested maximizing the use of bowls and plates made from *Sakhua* (Sal) leaves and earthenware instead of plastic during worship, thereby making the Shravani Mela clean and eco-friendly.
She emphasized that maintaining a clean and green Shravani Mela is a collective responsibility. If every devotee makes a small contribution, it will set a positive example for future generations. In conclusion, Minister Deepika Pandey Singh extended her best wishes to all devotees for Guru Purnima and the State-level Shravani Mela 2026, and prayed to Baba Baidyanath for everyone's happiness, health, and prosperity.
