Court Held at Birsa Munda Jail: Path Cleared for Release of 5 Inmates; DLSA Secretary Personally Tastes Food to Verify Quality
Ranchi: A 'Jail Court-cum-Legal Awareness Camp' was organized by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) at the Birsa Munda Central Jail, Hotwar. The primary objective of this camp was to provide legal relief to inmates and to raise awareness regarding their rights within the prison system.
Key Highlights of the Camp:
* Five Inmates Benefit: A total of 17 applications were submitted before the Jail Court, out of which 5 cases were successfully disposed of. Of these, 2 inmates were granted immediate release, while the remaining 3 are set to be released upon the payment of fines.
* Inspection of Food Quality: Demonstrating a sensitive approach, DLSA Secretary Rakesh Roshan personally tasted the food served to the inmates to verify its quality. Upon finding deficiencies in the food, he issued directives to the Jail Superintendent to implement immediate improvements regarding both quality and hygiene.
* Health Check-up Camp: A medical camp was also organized within the jail premises for the benefit of the inmates. The Secretary interacted with the jail doctors and issued instructions to ensure that regular, periodic health check-ups for the inmates are conducted without fail.
* Legal Awareness: Judicial officers provided the inmates with information regarding various schemes and initiatives launched by NALSA (National Legal Services Authority) and DLSA. During the session, the inmates' grievances were also heard, and the jail administration was directed to ensure their prompt resolution.
Several officials were present on this occasion, including Judicial Magistrates Archana Kumari, Manish Kumar, and Mayank Maliyaj; Railway Judicial Magistrate Vijay Kumar; and Jail Superintendent Kumar Chandrashekhar.
