Auto Drivers' Sit-in Protest in Ranchi on April 8; Memorandum to be Submitted to Administration
Ranchi: Auto drivers in Ranchi have decided to stage a sit-in protest on April 8, 2026, near the Lok Bhawan Khatal—adjacent to the Raj Bhavan—from 12:00 PM to 2:15 PM. Led by founder Dinesh Soni, hundreds of drivers will gather to voice their support for their demands. During the demonstration, a memorandum will be submitted to the Municipal Commissioner and the Superintendent of Traffic Police. Key demands include the implementation of a global tender system for the city, an increase in passes and permits for CNG and e-rickshaws, and a complete ban on illegal extortion. The drivers have appealed to the administration to ensure the maintenance of peace and order.
