Sparsh Campaign Launched to Make Ranchi Leprosy-Free, Door-to-Door Outreach from January 30

Ranchi, January 29: To accelerate leprosy eradication in the district, the Health Department will launch the Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign from January 30, which will continue till February 13, 2026. Civil Surgeon Dr. Prabhat Kumar informed that during this period, awareness programmes, pledge ceremonies, and village meetings will be organized across all blocks and villages.

Following the awareness phase, a door-to-door survey will be conducted from March 9 to March 23 to identify hidden patients, especially in villages where no cases have been reported for several years. He clarified that leprosy is not a contagious social stigma but a completely curable disease. With timely diagnosis and regular medication, patients can lead a normal and healthy life.

Free testing and medicines are available at all government health centres. The primary objectives of the campaign are to eliminate discrimination, promote early detection, and encourage community participation to make Ranchi a leprosy-free district.
