According to reports, police received information that two men were transporting brown sugar towards Daltonganj on a black TVS Raider motorcycle (registration number JH03 AP-3034). Acting on the information, a police team led by Sadar Police Station in-charge Lalji launched a vehicle checking drive near Amanat River on NH-39 at Singrakhla village.
During the checking, two suspicious youths approached the checkpoint at high speed on the said motorcycle. When signaled to stop, they tried to flee but were caught by the alert police team.
In the presence of DSP Rajeev Ranjan, police searched the suspects and recovered about 21 grams of brown sugar, a mobile phone, 2,660 rupees in cash, and the motorcycle. The arrested youths were identified as Chindu Kumar (23) and Atul Ranjan Singh (25).
During interrogation, both confessed that they used to buy brown sugar from a person named Raja, a resident of Garhwa, and sell it in the Daltonganj area. The police have booked them under the NDPS Act and sent them to judicial custody on Tuesday.
