According to Milli information, on Sunday, local villagers saw an elephant calf lying next to a paddy field. The villagers found that the baby elephant had died. The villagers immediately informed the forest department. After receiving the information, a team of Forest Department led by Forest Officer Vijay Shankar Sharma reached the scene on the direction of DFO Pravesh Agarwal. After investigation, the matter was informed to senior officials of the department. Following this, a team of specialist veterinarians was dispatched to the spot to conduct a post-mortem on the body of the dead elephant calf. Forest officials said that the cause of death of the baby elephant would be clear after the post-mortem report comes.
There, villagers say that last night about 10 to 12 wild elephants came towards the village and penetrated the paddy fields and ruined the crops. Chances are the baby elephant died by being pressed into the herd.
