Supreme Court refuses to ban India-Pakistan Asia Cup match

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has refused to hear the petition seeking a ban on the upcoming Asia Cup cricket match between India and Pakistan on 14 September. The bench headed by Justice JK Maheshwari said what is the hurry in this. Four people including Urvashi Jain had filed a petition regarding the match.

The petitioner's lawyer, while mentioning before the court, has demanded a hearing on this petition on 12 September. Then the court said what is the hurry in this, let the match happen. Then the petitioner's lawyer said that the match is on 14 September which is a Sunday. If this petition is not heard on 12 September, then this petition will become meaningless. Then the court said what can we do in this, let the match happen. Then the lawyer said that my case may be bad or good but at least there should be a list. But Justice Maheshwari rejected the request. The court said that every day one side or the other side plays.

It was said in the petition that on one hand our soldiers are being killed and on the other hand we are playing matches with a country which is a safe haven for those who commit terrorist acts against the country. This hurts the sentiments of those who have lost their family members in the attack by Pakistani terrorists.
