Jharkhand/Ranchi : Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri held a meeting in his office on Thursday with senior officials from the Electricity Department, Road Construction Department, and Drinking Water and Sanitation Department regarding inter-departmental coordination for the upcoming Durga Puja and road safety.
The meeting was attended by the Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order), all Executive Engineers and Junior Engineers from the Electricity, Road Construction, and Drinking Water Departments, and the District Inspectorate, Dr. Sudesh Kumar.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner issued strict instructions to all concerned officials, stating that the safety of devotees is of paramount importance during Durga Puja, and ensuring that they face no difficulties in visiting the temple.
He directed that Durga Puja committees ensure uninterrupted power supply to all pandals during Durga Puja, ensuring fire safety and all necessary regulations are followed. He also directed that no electrical wires be exposed in the pandals, eliminating the possibility of short circuits.
Instructions to Ensure Puja Committees Follow Safety Standards
The Deputy Commissioner directed officials to ensure that puja committees do not obtain illegal electricity connections. He directed them to ensure that the puja committees adhere to the safety standards set by them.
Fire Safety Arrangements
The Deputy Commissioner directed comprehensive fire safety arrangements in all puja pandals to ensure that no untoward incident related to electricity occurs during Durga Puja. He also directed the concerned officials to ensure that puja pandal committees do not leave any exposed wires anywhere in the pandals and to ensure that all prescribed standards are followed by clear instructions.
Instructions to Install Slabs in Manholes and Drains
During Durga Puja, a large crowd arrives at the puja pandals from various routes. Consequently, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officials to ensure that manholes and drain slabs are installed around all major pandals and other locations in the city. He also instructed the concerned officials to ensure safety standards are followed on the swings set up during the Durga Puja fair.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the swing operators to maintain proper electrical connections to prevent short circuits. He directed the Durga Puja Committee to provide a certificate regarding the safety standards set by the administration. He also directed the concerned officials to ensure that all safety standards are strictly followed.
He directed the deputation of a cleaning supervisor during the puja. The Deputy Commissioner instructed the concerned officials to install CCTV cameras on the Kantatoli flyover for safety reasons. He also directed the concerned officials to take note of the waterlogging on the Kantatoli flyover due to the previous day's rain.
