Ukraine/Kiev: Russia carried out its biggest airstrike on the Ukrainian capital Kiev so far, firing 805 drones and 13 missiles from late Saturday night to Sunday morning. 3 people were killed in these attacks, while many were injured. This is the first time in the Russian attack that the main buildings of the Ukrainian government were also targeted. Firefighters were seen extinguishing the fire in all these buildings and there was an atmosphere of chaos in the entire city.
According to the Kiev Post, the Russian military has claimed that Ukraine's air defense systems intercepted or disabled 751 targets, but missiles and drones attacked 37 places across the country, causing fires in many places. Many residential and administrative buildings have been destroyed in these attacks. This is the first time since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war that a cabinet building caught fire in an attack on a government headquarters.
Ukrainian officials say that such attacks continued from Russia throughout the night. The attacks started with drones, which turned into missile attacks. During these attacks by Russia, a situation of great panic and chaos was seen. Air alert was sounded across the country and citizens were asked to immediately move to safe places. Fire brigade personnel and relief teams were seen extinguishing fires caused by missile and drone attacks.
This attack by Russia on Ukraine has come at a time when efforts are being made at various levels to stop this war that has been going on for about three years. Meanwhile, 24 countries led by France and Britain have talked about joining the international monitoring force to end the war. Kiev says that such security agreements will be effective only when Western soldiers are involved in it, but Russian President Putin has clearly refused to agree to this. US President Donald Trump has also been claiming peace talks between the two sides, but the current attacks show that there is no progress in the peace talks.
