Hemant government is suppressing the corruption case: Pratul

Jharkhand/Ranchi : BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shahdev has strongly criticized the attitude of the state government on the allegations of corruption made by a senior IPS officer of Jharkhand cadre under the Whistle Blower Act.

Shahdev issued a press release on Monday and said that there were allegations of huge irregularities in the purchase of security equipment and purchase at a price four to five times higher than the market price, but the government has suppressed the entire matter.

He said that initially the government did not take any cognizance of these allegations for months. Later when the pressure increased, the responsibility of investigation was given to the accused officer under the chairmanship of junior officer IG Narendra Kumar. It is ridiculous and unethical in itself that a junior officer investigates his senior officer.

He said that after heavy opposition, the government changed the committee and made ADG level officer T Kandaswami the chairman, but he remained on leave for a long time and till now not a single meeting of the committee has been held. It is clear from this that the government does not want a serious investigation but is busy covering up corruption.

The BJP spokesperson said that the purpose of the Whistle Blower Act is to protect the officer who exposes corruption and to keep his identity safe. But in Jharkhand, on the contrary, the government has made the whistle blower officer insecure and worked to save the accused. This is against the spirit of the Act and is a direct example of protecting the corrupt.
