Jharkhand/Ranchi: A delegation of the All-Party Tana Bhagat Committee met Governor Santosh Gangwar at the Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. The committee invited the Governor to attend the Jatra Tana Bhagat birth anniversary celebrations as the chief guest.
The delegation told the Governor that the function will be held on September 28 at Chingri, Bishunpur in Gumla district. Giving this information, Janardan Tana Bhagat said that during the meeting with the Governor, the Tana Bhagats discussed in detail the historical role of the community, current social issues and the contribution of Jatra Tana Bhagat.
On the occasion, the Governor described the Tana Bhagat movement as an important chapter of the Indian freedom struggle and the tradition of social justice. He assured that he would personally attend the upcoming function. The Tana Bhagat community expressed happiness over this assurance of the Governor. Those who met the Governor included Janardan Tana Bhagat, Bahadur Tana Bhagat, Dr Sushil Oraon, Premeshwar Tana Bhagat and Rajesh Tana Bhagat.
