Medicines worth lakhs of rupees wasted on the roof

Chhattisgarh/Balrampur: A case of negligence regarding the medicines of the Chief Minister Urban Health Slum Scheme has come to light in the Municipality Office of Balrampur district. Medicines worth lakhs of rupees kept under the open sky on the roof of the office have expired.

This matter came to light when the spoiled medicines started falling down during the rain. When the councilors went to the roof and looked, they found a stock of medicines. Municipal Council Vice President Dilip Soni said that these medicines had expired two months ago.

Mukhyamantri Urban Slum Health Scheme is an important initiative of the Chhattisgarh government. Its objective is to provide free health facilities to the poor citizens of urban slums. Under the scheme, patients are given the facility of free medicines, tests and treatment.

Ward No. 7 Councilor Rimi Chaurasia has called it serious negligence. Vice President Soni has accused the former and current CMO of negligence. He said that new medicines were ordered even before the medicines expired, which points towards irregularities.

According to the CMO of the municipality, Pranav Rai, these medicines have been kept on the roof since 2022. He said that these medicines will be disposed of after the audit. The vice-president and councilor have demanded an impartial investigation into the matter.
