Bank official embezzled crores, FIR registered

Himachal Pradesh/Shimla: A case of embezzlement of crores of rupees by a senior officer of Bank of Baroda has come to light in the capital Shimla. An FIR has been registered in this matter at Chhota Shimla police station.

According to the information received, the Deputy Regional Manager of Bank of Baroda complained to the police that a senior officer working in the Kasumpti branch of the bank embezzled a total of Rs 3.70 crore on 22 August and 27 August 2025. It is alleged that this amount was transferred from the bank account of an institution to the account of a woman without permission. After this, the amount was sent from there to many other accounts and cash withdrawal was also made. At present, out of this fraud, Rs 90.95 lakh has been found remaining in the account, which has been frozen by the police and the bank management.

According to the information, the concerned officer has confessed the crime in writing to the bank management on 7 September. He admitted that this big fraud was carried out for personal gain in connivance with unknown persons.

On the basis of the complaint, Chotta Shimla police station has registered a case under section 316 (5) BNS and started investigation. A police officer said on Friday that the entire matter is being thoroughly investigated and other people involved in it are being identified.
