America/Washington: America will host the Group of 20 (G-20) summit of world leaders next year in 2026 at President Donald J. Trump's golf course and spa in Doral, Florida. Trump announced his decision to hold the G-20 summit in Miami in the Oval Office of the White House on Friday.

According to a CBS News report, Trump has entrusted the responsibility of preparing for the summit to Kevin Hassett, director of the National Economic Council. The President said that Finance Minister Scott Bessant is preparing the agenda of this conference. After this, the White House said in a statement that Trump will host this summit in Doral "at cost". Will not take any benefit from the State Department or any foreign government. This conference will be held on December 14-15, 2026.

Trump bought it for $150 million

Trump had planned to hold the G-7 summit at this resort in 2020. He abandoned the idea after widespread criticism. Eventually, the summit was canceled due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and was held virtually. Trump bought this resort in 2012 for $150 million.

There are four golf courses

It first opened in the 1960s. Located in a densely populated area of Metro Miami, it is located under the flight path of Miami International Airport. It includes four golf courses, a 48,000 square feet spa, a huge pool with a 125-foot slide and a ballroom of more than 24,000 square feet. Miami Mayor Francis Suarez was present in the Oval Office at the time of Trump's announcement.

Largest economic forum

The G-20 is an economic forum comprising 19 countries and two other groups, the European Union and the African Union, representing most of the world's largest developed and emerging economies. According to the G-20 website, member countries account for about 85 per cent of global GDP and more than 75 per cent of global trade. It is larger and more geographically diverse than the G-7, which includes the US, Canada, Japan and other European powers.

The meeting location varies among member countries and this year's G-20 summit will be held in South Africa in November. Trump has indicated he does not plan to attend.

Invitation to Poland's newly elected president

The President extended an invitation to Poland's newly elected President Karol Nawrocki to next year's G-20 summit at the White House on Wednesday. An administration official said the U.S. would "return to core principles for its host year, streamlining the summit and its related procedures, and aligning the agenda with the G20's core goals of economic growth and financial stability."
