Mumbai, September 24, 2026: Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that revenue services will now become more accessible to citizens in rural and remote areas of the state. The Maharashtra government has approved the establishment of 47 new Additional Tehsildar offices and four new Additional District Collector offices.
Bawankule said the new offices are being established on the directions of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The move is aimed at bringing administration closer to citizens, saving their time and money, and speeding up revenue-related work.
Focus on Decentralisation of Administration
The decision has been taken with the objective of decentralising administration, keeping in view the growing population, rapid urbanisation, increasing revenue-related work and the geographical distance between taluka and district headquarters.
The new offices will make it easier for citizens to obtain various certificates, process land conversion matters, access government schemes including the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana, and avail other revenue services closer to their homes.
Four New Additional District Collector Offices
Approval has been granted to operationalise new Additional District Collector offices in Baramati in Pune district, Pandharpur in Solapur district, Dapoli in Ratnagiri district, and Nagpur (Rural) in Nagpur district.
The move is expected to accelerate district-level administrative work and improve the delivery of services to citizens.
47 New Additional Tehsildar Offices Across 21 Districts
A total of 47 new Additional Tehsildar offices will be established across 21 districts of Maharashtra. These include Gadchiroli, Bhandara, Wardha, Nagpur, Washim, Buldhana, Yavatmal, Nanded, Latur, Parbhani, Jalna, Beed, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Ahilyanagar, Nandurbar, Nashik, Kolhapur, Satara, Pune, Palghar and Mumbai Suburban.
Government orders regarding the establishment of these offices have also been issued.
Benefits for Farmers, Students and Citizens
According to the Revenue Department's order, the newly established Additional Tehsildar offices will be given the necessary legal powers and responsibilities for specified functions under the Maharashtra Land Revenue Code, 1966.
The decision is expected to make revenue services more accessible to farmers, students and the general public. Citizens will have less need to travel to taluka or district headquarters for various government-related work.
The move will help save time and money, improve administrative efficiency and enable citizens to receive revenue services more promptly.
