The claims and objections phase of the special intensive revision of the electoral roll is set to begin in Jharkhand on August 5. Ahead of this, Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar imparted detailed training to all District Election Officers, EROs, AEROs, and Deputy Election Officers across the state via video conferencing.
The Chief Electoral Officer issued clear instructions that in cases involving unmapped entries or logical discrepancies, notices should be issued to the concerned voters to obtain necessary documents, and decisions should be taken only after impartial verification.
He stated that following the publication of the draft electoral roll on August 5, eligible Indian citizens whose names were previously omitted would be able to get their names added by submitting Form-6. Meanwhile, ordinary residents of Jharkhand currently listed in the electoral rolls of other states would be able to transfer their names to the Jharkhand electoral roll by filling out Form-8.
The Chief Electoral Officer directed all officials to ensure that the disposal of claims and objections is carried out with complete transparency and impartiality, and in strict accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. He reiterated that no eligible Indian citizen should be left out of the electoral roll, and no foreign national should be included in it.
