Chief Minister Hemant Soren Issues Major Directives to Excise Department; Emphasizes Expediting Recruitment of Constables and ASIs

The Jharkhand government is moving rapidly to make the Excise and Prohibition Department more effective, transparent, and revenue-oriented. On Friday, a high-level review meeting of the department was held at Project Bhawan, Ranchi, chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren and attended by Yogendra Prasad, the Minister for Drinking Water & Sanitation and Excise & Prohibition.
The meeting involved a detailed review of the department's revenue collection, enforcement mechanisms, administrative strengthening, and future action plans. The Chief Minister directed officials to complete the recruitment process for Excise Constables on a priority basis. Additionally, instructions were issued to accelerate and complete the recruitment process for all vacant posts in the department, including Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), in a time-bound manner.
The Chief Minister also directed the expansion of the Jharkhand State Beverages Corporation Limited (JSBCL) scope of operations, revenue enhancement through modern technology, the swift formulation of new policies, and strict action against the manufacture, storage, transportation, and sale of illicit liquor. He placed special emphasis on making the department's functioning more transparent, accountable, and result-oriented.
During the meeting, Minister Yogendra Prasad stated that the department would work in accordance with the Chief Minister's directives, prioritizing the interests of the state and the public above all else. He instructed officials to ensure the effective implementation of all departmental schemes, strengthen revenue collection, and take strict, continuous action against illegal activities.
