Congress Only Values Gandhi Family Women; Rest of India’s Women Mean Nothing to Them: Sarbananda Sonowal
Ranchi: In a joint press conference held at the BJP state office, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Jamui MLA Shreyasi Singh launched a scathing attack on the INDI alliance regarding the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. They labeled the opposition's mindset as anti-women and asserted that the public would punish them for this "political sin."
Key Highlights of the Press Conference:
* Attack on Congress Leadership: Sarbananda Sonowal stated that for Congress, women's empowerment begins and ends with Indira Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi. He claimed they have no regard for the common women of the country. He emphasized that Prime Minister Modi has truly empowered women through schemes like Lakhpati Didi and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
* Opposition’s Double Standards: Sonowal accused the opposition of conspiring against the Women's Reservation Bill during the special session, calling it an insult to all women. He noted that while the NDA is committed to increasing women's political participation, the opposition wants to keep them confined to mere slogans.
* Safety Concerns in Jharkhand: The Union Minister pointed out that the current Jharkhand government has completely failed to stop atrocities against women. He highlighted the rising number of cases and claimed the state government is unable to protect the dignity of women.
* Shreyasi Singh’s Remarks: Former Bihar Minister and MLA Shreyasi Singh remarked that by refusing to vote, the opposition did not just defeat a bill but fell in the eyes of the nation's women. She argued that the opposition is intimidated by the prospect of women taking leadership roles in Parliament. She added that using delimitation and the census as excuses to block this historic step reveals their negative agenda.
The conference was attended by several senior BJP leaders, including former MP Geeta Kora, Ranchi Mayor Roshni Khalkho, and State Secretary Sunita Singh.
