BK Rai, Who Served the Cause of Justice for Five Decades, Passes Away; Ranchi Bar Plunged into Mourning
Ranchi: The legal fraternity has been plunged into a wave of grief following the sudden demise of BK Rai, Vice President of the Ranchi District Bar Association (RDBA). Upon receiving the news of his passing, a pall of silence descended over the court premises and the Bar building.
On Monday, a condolence meeting was organized by the RDBA at the Bar building, where advocates observed a two-minute silence and offered prayers for the peace of the departed soul. While recalling his contributions, everyone described his passing as an irreparable loss to the legal community.
The late BK Rai (76) began his legal practice in 1973 and, over a career spanning more than five decades, established a reputation not only as a successful advocate but also as a mentor to young lawyers. He was renowned for his humble nature, discipline, and unwavering dedication to the cause of justice.
As a mark of respect, advocates abstained from judicial proceedings on Monday during a 'Full Court Reference' held in his honor. He passed away on Sunday morning at his residence in Dhurwa, following which his last rites were performed in Varanasi.
Several office-bearers of the RDBA and a large number of advocates were present at the condolence meeting. Everyone paid their tributes to him and fondly remembered his personality.
