Third supplementary budget provides ₹605 crore to panchayats for the first time, giving new impetus to rural development
Ranchi: Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Deepika Pandey Singh described the ₹6,450 crore third supplementary budget as historic for Jharkhand's rural development. She said that for the first time, on the recommendation of the State Finance Commission, panchayats will receive ₹605 crore, which will strengthen village self-governance. The budget approved ₹1,717.58 crore for the Rural Works Department, ₹658 crore for the Panchayati Raj Department, and ₹594.88 crore for the Rural Development Department. This will strengthen roads, bridges, infrastructure, livelihood missions, women's self-help groups, and social security schemes. The minister expressed her gratitude to Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore. She said that the government's priority is to bring development to the last person.
