A "silence period" is imposed 48 hours before voting, prohibiting gatherings and campaigning

An important provision regarding model conduct for the Jharkhand municipal elections has come into effect. Under Rule 127 of the Jharkhand Municipal Elections and Election Petition Rules, 2012, and Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, there will be a complete ban on any public gathering, procession, meeting, or election campaigning in the 48 hours prior to the end of voting. No person will be able to call, organize, or participate in any gathering. This ban also applies to newspapers and promotional materials. The administration has warned of strict enforcement of this rule, which will come into effect at 5 p.m.
